About
Laya Kelly is a visual artist based in South Carolina. After a transformative experience at an art exhibition, her work was selected for display at the Arts Center of Greenwood in Greenwood, South Carolina. She realized she wanted to become an artist at the age of 8. Encouraged by her family and teachers, she applied and was accepted into a magnet program for the visual and performing arts at age 11. Laya later graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in studio art from Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She specializes in Surrealism, working primarily in oil painting and graphite drawing. Much of her art explores the mental highs and lows individuals may experience, often drawing from her own personal journey for inspiration.
